No One Is Coming to Save You—And That's the Best News You'll Ever Hear

  • Sherri Morgan

There comes a moment on every healing journey when we realize something both terrifying and liberating:

No one is coming to save us.

At first, that realization can feel heartbreaking.

We spend years hoping someone else will finally understand us.

Love us enough.

Choose us.

Heal us.

Apologize.

See our worth.

We quietly wait for a person, a relationship, a job, a spiritual teacher, or even the perfect moment to arrive and somehow make everything okay.

But healing doesn't begin when someone rescues you.

Healing begins when you stop waiting.

We Learned to Hand Away Our Power

Most of us didn't choose this pattern consciously.

We learned it.

As children, we depended on adults for safety, approval, and belonging.

If home was unpredictable, we became experts at reading everyone else's emotions.

If love felt conditional, we learned to earn it.

If conflict felt dangerous, we learned to stay small.

Those strategies helped us survive.

But many of us unknowingly carried them into adulthood.

We begin believing that someone else holds the key to our happiness.

That if they change...

If they apologize...

If they finally understand...

Then we'll finally be free.

But freedom doesn't begin with someone else's choices.

It begins with yours.

The Hidden Cost of Waiting

Every day you wait for permission is another day you postpone your own life.

Waiting for confidence.

Waiting until you know enough.

Waiting until fear disappears.

Waiting until everyone approves.

Waiting until you feel "ready."

The truth?

Ready isn't a feeling.

It's a decision.

Courage doesn't arrive before action.

It grows because of action.

Reclaiming Isn't Becoming Someone New

One of the biggest misconceptions about healing is that we're trying to become a better version of ourselves.

I don't believe that.

I believe we're returning to the person who existed before fear taught us to shrink.

Reclaiming your power isn't about becoming louder.

It's not about controlling others.

It's not about pretending you've never been hurt.

It's about remembering that your voice matters.

Your intuition matters.

Your boundaries matter.

Your dreams matter.

And they matter even when someone else doesn't understand them.

Your Body Already Knows

This is one of the reasons I teach somatic healing alongside shamanic practices.

Your mind can understand something for years while your nervous system continues responding as though you're still unsafe.

Your body remembers survival.

But it also remembers freedom.

Every time you take a deep breath instead of reacting.

Every time you choose honesty over people-pleasing.

Every time you honor your intuition instead of dismissing it.

You're teaching your nervous system something new:

"I am safe to be myself."

That is how reclamation begins.

You Are the One You've Been Waiting For

This may be the hardest truth you'll ever hear.

But it is also the most empowering.

The strength you've been searching for has never lived outside of you.

The wisdom you've been seeking has always been whispering beneath the noise.

The freedom you've longed for doesn't arrive when life becomes perfect.

It arrives the moment you stop handing away your power.

No one else can walk this path for you.

And that isn't bad news.

It's beautiful news.

Because if no one else holds your power...

No one else gets to decide who you become.

Your Invitation

This week, notice where you're still waiting.

Waiting for approval.

Waiting for certainty.

Waiting for permission.

Then ask yourself one simple question:

"What would I do today if I believed I already held the power I've been searching for?"

You don't have to reclaim your whole life in a single day.

You only have to reclaim this moment.

And then the next.

Because every act of self-trust is another step toward remembering who you truly are—and rising into the life that has been waiting for you all along.
